the idea behind lbl is very simple. we keep getting sent music that we really want to own on vinyl, so weve decided to start pressing these tracks ourselves. everything we have scheduled has a club feel, but past that we think youd be hard pushed to pinpoint a specific style which dominates our releases. for our first release we have music from scott fraser (crimes of the future), people get real (join our club), jamie blanco (ess o ess) and joonipah (nixwax). we could list a whole load of meaningless genres to describe the music to you (machine house, neu acid, bashment techno and hi tek soca) but we think its best you just listen and make your own mind up. currently, all lbl releases will be limited to a pressing run of 300 copies

you cant stop deetroit. back again with his (her?/their?) third 12 inch on unknown deetroit featuring 4 deep and dirty house and techno cuts with a taste of acid: u feel it, deeviant, deetroit conspiracy and flow. apparently inspired by three weeks of internet speculation spawned by a simple question as to the true identity of deetroit. 250+ comments on facebook later and unknown deetroit followers explain that it simple does not matter! again its all about the music and that music is deep house and / or techno! long live udr!� hand stamped white labels. gonna be big bitches!

nelistening back, ‘interlude’ will feel like the perfect opening to ‘skylax’. a jazzy encore crawls in, morphing into a skippy hip-hop instrumental with jason’s signature flourishes all over it. aptly named as it is, this is the breathing space between whatever came before in your day, and the eleven deep house gems that are to follow. speaking of, ‘the love’ will have you gripped from the first bar. it glides the listener in, then subtly drops that signature, tightly-tuned bassline of jason’s and continues onto soulful vocals from there. ‘old dayz’ touches on a bit of a nostalgic note. the spoken vox cuts harken back to 90s hip-hop joints, playing over a looped latin sample-led beat. from there, ‘rawkicks 2’ shows jason’s rough and ready sampling style in action. a seemingly simple track, but one which has that special something which guarantees to keep people on the floor moving for its duration. ‘cut b’ contrasts this nicely, being a much cleaner production with tight drum programming and synth work. that said, it still has the classic jg atmosphere we love. closing out the first half of the album, ‘definition’ slows the pace ever so slightly, with its eternal pad structure that builds up the track’s momentum into something very mellow and deep.bringing in the second half of ‘skylax’, ‘john blue’ takes things back a notch further. a deeper tune, yet one that shows off an uncharacteristically punchy bass hit from jason. ‘last night’ is a track more reminiscent of jason’s first lost cuts ep on wax classic, sounding as if it had been freshly taken off an old tape with its sample-led beat and background hiss. the last four tracks of the album see a return to the ‘mastercuts’ and ‘lovedits’ series which fans will recognize from the ‘lost cuts’ records, with ‘lovedits 7’ and ‘mastercut 5’ respectively. the former is a laid back female vocal edit with the entire suite of signature jg touches while the latter is a garage house hit more crafted for the club. ‘bb’ brings the album to a close, twisting a disco/funksample over a pallet of drums and effects for the near six-minute duration of the track.all in all, this is the perfect follow up to jason’s debut album ‘313.4.ever’, with tracks for both the club and home listening. if you happened to miss the first album back in 2012, don’t forget that now you have the chance to grab it in a special double pack with ‘skylax’ on cd!so, needless to say, this timeless record is a must purchase for all collectors and djs out there

maricopa returns to back to the balearics to complete his stunning opus, pastel love. and he continues where he left off building deeply textured songs packed full of simple melodies that really shine. his music opts for subtle feelings and passing vibes over the more obvious structures of dance music. the release of part one led to a number of comparisons with the early work of aphex twin as well as more contemporary producers such as four tet. such comparisons dont come lightly, but pastel love demonstrates that a rare musical talent has arrived. the release again has beautiful printed covers and looks as good as it sounds. viva maricopa!

berlin-based staffan linzatti returns for his second release on chronicle with another uncompromising selection of linear techno constructions sculpted with an unfaltering vision of how hypnotic body music can transcend simple rhythmic needs. icy atmospherics and razor-sharp production make for one of the strongest manifestations of linzattis distinctive sound in a career bristling with standout releases for labels such as stockholm ltd, balans, and his own searchlights records.

paxton fettel drops the follow up to not bad for a tenner e.p – and it is tidy like your nans lounge. *jets* gets set to disembark on a paxton trip to a hidden place, and because it rhymes it obviously takes you to space. a secret spot that you only get to see once in a while when the tide is right.. dominating drums demand moves: bust a simple sinking throb, creating a cosmic divulge.

bristol music has always stood strongest as an alternative to the lowest common denominator, and so it is with brstl as the label continues to provide a platform to previously undiscovered talent in the underbelly of the citys flourishing house scene. following lauded debuts from shanti celeste and jay l, the sixth installment in the series turns to another unknown in the shape of samuel. as with other releases on brstl, 006 is made up of two distinct halves. on the a-side, >numberuma< delivers machine driven house of a rugged and charming nature. the drums switch up with playful intent but largely centre around a forward-charging 4/4 pulse with a faint hint of tropical flavour rubbed into the groove. meanwhile the limber lead keys speak of sunnier days through a cracked lens while the accompanying chord swells intone an equally uplifting and nostalgic message. while from the outset the track may be wrought from simple ingredients, the dynamic interplay between the different elements belies the producers years. on the flip, >groove therapy< opts for a more esoteric approach made up of long, dreamy lead-ins full of distant pads and delicate percussion and transitions as smooth as silk. indeed this track makes a smart foil to >numberuma<, choosing to snake its way into the subconscious through delicate melodic content and an undulating beat rather than rambunctious rhythm. slow-release filters draw that aforementioned pad in before sending it out to sea once more, and all the while the stripped back drums tick out a hypnotic chant. once again a pair of unique tracks loaded with character prove brstl to be an essential outpost for the most creative 4/4 music emanating from the west country.

daze maxim adds another episode to his practice of long-form explorations, on this his second release for lisbon’s assemble music. this time hes joined by a master in this field, baby ford, whose remixes over the past few years continue his own distinctive development of extended minimal house trips. dazes beginning an ending rides a skippy, loose beat for several minutes, the snares and hats gradually opening up as wordless vocalizations exclaim and interject with increasing regularity, the bass bumping contentedly underneath. pads join the equation for an intricate midsection – evoking memories of alcachofa-era happy experimentalism that nonetheless fit within daze maxims disciplined and dancefloor-oriented approach.peter ford recasts the original into his now unmistakable soundspace, where the push and pull between front-and-centre rhythmic components and evanescent background atmospherics creates that recognizable but undefinable sense of emotion, felt but unexplained. in ford’s world there isnt anything as simple as a beginning or an end, so the remix provides a valuable counterpoint to the original. given their now impressive track record, its no surprise that assemble music has pulled off another cohesive statement that works equally on the body and the mind.

we welcome back one of our favorite artists, brendon moeller. this time as beat pharmacy. brenson has been releasing several records for us before, on echocord and echocord colour. on all these tracks, one thing becomes apparent, with a few simple elements and a dub approach to mixing, one can create space, movement and groove without the need to change keys. magic maybe. thank you dub manipulators of the past and present for the music and lessons. brendon has been releasing music in many years on many labels, also running his own famous steadfast label.

trackwork ep.no.2 is headed up by a super swingy acid tinged wigout multiculture - simple but deadly on the floor. next we have the stone-age-cave-rave of a billion years ago - a clash of de-tuned vox and live dub delay edits and to round side a off - feel it warps and mangles a classic paradise garage disco sample into some dark heads-down tracky gear.

jeremy glenn continues on his quest to go deeper in this 4 track ep for quintessentials. the title track, wait for the night is anchored by a pulsing organ bass line, complimented by dark, pitched down vocals, simple lead lines and the occasional falsetto from glenn.

collaborations are often the fortune of timing. with andy having moved on since closing the dissident label to launching his cave paintings project to tim s departure from battant and striking out as andrew weatheralls engineer and soon to be co-member of the asphodells, an alliance was born between the two to undertake a series of live jam sessions at eachs respective studios. a love of new wave, new beat, uk bleep and detroit techno all feature in b-ultras and the aptly titled, neu beat. both cuts are heavily soaked in the pitch black, smoke machine funk and strob-laden fug of andys (and co-hort joe hart) infamous world unknown dancefloor. running at around 10 minutes the tracks are essentially an examination of acid houses ideals. clattering hats, throbbing basslines, stabbing keys and doses of 303. keeping it pretty simple but all about a pure groove on and on. backing these up is a remix of b-ultras from jamie paton that accentuates the groove and drags the acid deeper down to some b-boy dub throwdown - with more to follow from all protagonists in 2014.

mark du mosch is a rotterdam based producer and dj who has earned the highest amount of respect in the dutch alternative music scene in the past couple of years. the reason is simple: he dares to go beyond the obvious, his raw yet emotional signature sound being distinctive, versatile and stunningly creative. expect perfectly executed analogue bliss from a craftsman who is slowly yet steadily making his way into the records bags of global house and techno connoisseurs.

second release of the wild division records signed by duster traum (white rose) on his second release and remixed by miki craven and spear. a1 is the original track straight to hell signed by duster traum with a nice simple and minimal bass line and some hypnotic detroit sounds the reminds some of the markus suckut productions. in a2 we find miki craven with a dark remix. powerful production with huge space reverbs effects, nice stereo image. banging!

glenview edits returns with this tasty (and diverse!) 4 track ep of edits from moscows simple symmetry with their indian tinged cut, the urals finest the papers who replayed all the instruments in their exotic edit, to two funky disco bangers from chicagos boogie nite and newcomer funkyjaws. edit house disco

flemming dalum is back with a fantastic italo remix of sally shapiros fantastically titled track. with some great backing synth from kid machine he has created an amazing italo disco tune with a great pop sensibility that makes it so simple and catchy you will be whistling it all day. flemming never lets us down when it comes to exquisite new italo flavours and this track is proof. addictive italo pop for dancefloors!

prime numbers highlight the most hyped trus me track from his >treat me right< album released earlier this year. somebody is an insistent, throbbing production championed by many a dj in 2013 including daniel bell, mcde, deetron, ben klock, bicep, nina kraviz & guy gerber. hypnotic acid bass pulses under shifting cymbals & claps with jacked-up, penetrating snare breakdowns. simple, classic & effective. following his recent excursion on the ann aimee imprint mosca remixes for the flip. dropping the tempo he indulges in a burning bass heavy affair, stripping the minimal original even further back & subtly crafting the parts to create a spacious, heads-down groove. a masterful rework indeed.
